The Optimist

I hope the people who publish daily devotions for God's Daily promises don't slap me with a lawsuit for plagiarism, I just can't help it, but most of their adaptations are irresistible, I have to share them undistorted.

"The real work On October 20, 1968, a dramatic moment took place at the Mexico City Olympics. A few thousand spectators remained in the almost-dark Olympic Stadium awaiting one last runner. Finally the wail of police sirens ripped the air. As all eyes turned to the gate, a lone runner wearing the colors of Tanzania staggered into the stadium. John Stephen Akhwari was the last contestant to finish the 26-mile contest. He had injured his leg in a fall and entered the track bloodied and crudely bandaged. While he hobbled the final, lonely lap, spectators rose and applauded him as if he had won. After the race, someone asked him why he had refused to quit. "My country did not send me 7,000 miles to start the race," he replied simply. "They sent me 7,000 miles to finish it." To help us achieve a strong finish in our race of faith, Jesus Christ promised that "Whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man will also confess before the angels of God." You too can finish the race well by eagerly confessing Christ before others".

The one thing I now know better is that, we can dream, we can have ambition but the real challenge is in always accomplishing and getting to the finish line. The story of my life: today, I am working for corporate America, the last place I expected myself to be this year. Its been two weeks of learning stuff I never even cared about, thought about, why on earth would I need to know how to configure computers or servers or all that IT business, I would be crazy, but you know, I just discovered how little I know. Am not speaking in parables, all am saying is that, I have learnt that the opportunity given to me is to grow me, how on earth would I be able to come up with solutions to people's questions if I did not learn how to first get into the same page with them? How would I be of help if I did not know how to look through the available resources and make recommendations?
I may not know where the road to life leads me, but the one thing I know today is that I must run the good race and cross the finish line. Just like Akwhari, I did not come so far to not finish "the race"!

Here is a promise to remember everyday and most of all when I wonder if I am doing the right thing, when I need extra and a reminder that God gives us strength to cope with hard times.

Nehemiah had every reason to give up on his dream of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem. Resources were short. (They had to dig stones from the burned-out rubble to reuse on the new wall). The volunteers he had recruited were overwhelmed and tired. Sanballat and Tobiah mocked their efforts and threatened to tear it all down. Nehemiah even received death threats. No one would have blamed him for quitting. But Nehemiah is a study in courage, visionary leadership, and perseverance. He instilled courage in his troops by reminding them that God was on their side. He mobilized a plan to provide round-the-clock protection as the work continued. Most of all, Nehemiah stayed focused, not on the obstacles and dangers, but on the vision God had given him of a rebuilt Jerusalem. And Nehemiah's vision was fueled by prayer: When you feel like quitting, remember God's promises, use your gifts to the fullest, and return again and again to prayer. (Nehemiah 4:1-9)

Am I challenged or am I the challenger?
The one thing I find amazing and interesting about myself is that I just can not stay without a calendar that is overflowing. I truly deserve an award for this, worst; it makes me feel like the worst procrastinator because I pile a little too much forgetting to have realistic goals at times.
So I question myself over and over again, what is it with me? What is wrong with me, I have plenty, why do I go out fishing for more while my plate overflowing?
Honestly, I wonder and Marvel my ability to get my brain all sticky and packed. Thank you God for you keep me sane, most of the time!
Again I ask myself, what is it with me, is it that I love challenges and the thrill in them or am I challenged by the world around me? I guess, it is true, I am a kitten.
