Being Optimistic/shielding one's heart?
I think the hardest thing in life is trying to determine whether all is in vane. My biggest question this morning is where and truly speaking, "where is the spirit of optimism when sorrow and sadness surround us?"
In the last 2 months we have had such heartbreaking tragedies, I had a chance to visit with someone who was displaced by Hurricane Katrina and I must admit that was the most humbling experience I have had. I remember feeling the pain, seeing humility and surrender while empathyzing with her. Today, the number of deaths continue to rise in persisted as more and more people die from their wounds following the earthquake. A story of a wounded man with a one year old baby who has waiting for a tent following his wife and daughter's death and a wounded mother was heartbreaking. Amazing how we tend to take life for granted and worse how simple how everything can change in the blink of an eye.
So I ask myself once again, "am I being optimistic and holding on to faith or am I shielding my heart from all the pain and sorrow around me? "
Remember what we learnt in Sunday school and kindergarten, " Count your blessings and name them one by one. Also remember to say a prayer for those around you, my grandmother has taught me something special over the years. As she prays for each of her grandchildren and children she also prays for those she doesn't know. She always told me pray for others for you never know who is interceeding on your behalf. Think about it.
